About Valarie Sue…
Hey, I’m Val (they/she) I’m an artist, sewist, and craftsperson residing in South Brooklyn.
With over a decade of professional sewing and crafting experience under my belt, my career has been filled with jumping from industry to industry to learn all I can. The first several years of my career were spent in theatre, where I started in Wardrobe (with a hefty splash of Wig Styling). I steadily grew my skills in Costume Construction, Fabric Dyeing, Vintage Reconstruction, and Hand Finishing.
Once I relocated to Brooklyn, I was able to work in some of the top costume shops, working as a Beader/Hand Finisher, Stitcher, First Hand, and Craftsperson. When the pandemic hit, I quickly pivoted to the luxury fashion and bridal industry. I worked as a luxury bridal Sample Maker, as well as head of Alterations and Bespoke Production.
Now, comfortable in my home studio, I am able to create what speaks to me artistically and serve a community I adore.
